Attendance Engagement Liaison

Regular attendance is strongly linked to student achievement, well-being, and long-term success. We are seeking a motivated and relational Attendance Engagement Support Officer to improve attendance outcomes for students who are chronically absent (under 70%) or at risk of becoming so.This is a rewarding role where you will work closely with ākonga (students), whānau, staff and external agencies to identify barriers to attendance and implement practical, sustainable solutions.
About the role
- Identify and monitor students with concerning attendance patterns
- Meet with students to explore and address barriers to regular attendance
- Partner with whānau to strengthen engagement and shared responsibility
- Work collaboratively with Deans, teachers, pastoral staff and outside agencies
- Develop and track attendance improvement plans
- Maintain accurate records and uphold confidentiality

- Strong relationship-building and communication skills
- Experience working with young people and/or whānau
- A solution-focused, compassionate approach
- Cultural competence and an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi partnership
- High levels of professionalism, integrity and discretion
- Confidence using digital systems for monitoring and reporting

Position Type: Fixed-term, part-time, term-time only
Hours: 20 - 25 hours per week, with the possibility of 1-2 days per school holidays
Renumeration:Grade 4 or 5 of the support staff collective agreement (this will be negotiated depending on the successful candidate's skill set).
