Grounds Person

Tauranga Girls’ College is a vibrant secondary school located in Gate Pa with a roll of 1400 students. We are seeking a conscientious, energetic, and motivated individual experienced in general maintenance and grounds work to join our busy Property Team.

The Role
As our Groundsperson, you will be responsible for the high-standard upkeep of the college grounds and property. You will work as part of a collaborative team to ensure our kura is safe, functional, and welcoming for all students and staff.
- Hours: Up to 30 hours per week by negotiation (Part-time, Permanent)
- Contract: 52 weeks per year with annual leave
- Remuneration: Grade 1 of the School Caretakers’, Cleaners’ and Canteen Staff Collective Agreement
Key Responsibilities
- Grounds Upkeep: Professional mowing, gardening, and general landscaping across the kura.
- Kura Presentation: Daily litter removal and ensuring the school grounds remain tidy.
- Asset Maintenance: Routine servicing and care of school vehicles and grounds equipment.
- Team Support: Assisting the Property Team with various maintenance projects and "shifting work" (moving furniture/equipment) as required.
- Safety First: Consistently adhering to and promoting excellent Health and Safety practices.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need to be a "hands-on" person who isn't afraid of a bit of hard work. We are looking for:
- Experience: Ideally with a background in general maintenance or groundskeeping.
- Physical Fitness: This is an active role requiring stamina and physical capability.
- Licensing: A valid, full New Zealand driver’s licence is essential.
- Attitude: A team player who is motivated, reliable, and uses their initiative.
